Wheel Of Colors

The wheel of colors represents colors that are organized by their chromatic bond.

Created to organize colors visually and understand its principle, Formed by Sir Isaac Newton in 1966, the wheel is still used by every designer and artist worldwide to create and understand color harmonies, palettes and mixing.

PRIMARY COLORS

Blue, yellow and red is 3 pigment hues that cannot be formed or mixed by any amalgamation of other colors. Every other shade is made from these 3 tones.

SECONDARY COLORS

Orange, purple and green-These are derived by combining the primary colors.

TERTIARY COLORS

Red-orange
yellow-orange
blue-purple
red-purple
yellow-green
red-violet
blue-green
those are the hues created by mixing a secondary and a primary color. This is why the shade is a two-worded name.

WARM AND COOL TONES

Pass a line via the center of the color wheel and you will separate the warm colors (yellows, oranges, and reds) from the cooler ones (purples, blues, and greens).

Cool hues are often associated with serenity, calm and peace while warm colors are often identified with action, brightness, and energy.

SHADE, TINT, AND TONE

Tones, tints, and shades are variants of hues on the color wheel. A tint is a color to which white is included (Red + white= pink). A shade to which black is included (Black + red = burgundy). While a tone is a hue to which black, white or grey is included.

COLOR SCHEMES

Complementary colors: These shades are opposite on the wheel. For example Red and green. Since there is a strong difference between the two shades, they can make an outfit pop however excessive use can get boring.

Triadic colors: These hues are uniformly spaced about the wheel of color and are very dynamic and bright. A triadic color scheme creates harmony and visual contrast at the same time, making each item stand out.

Analogous colors: These are the colors that are placed next to one another on the wheel. For example: Red, orange and yellow. While making an analogous scheme of colors, one shade dominates, one accents and the other supports to give off a super eye-catching imagery.
