Every morning, we have a little gabfest with our wardrobe, and therefore, find ourselves struggling with the temptation of wearing our favorite black dress from among the Ethiopian women’s dresses collection to work. However, our little plaid matching numbers have helped us garner respect and the reputation of a well-clothed (read: well-cloaked) female amongst our work society.
To this day, some people don’t know the difference between a suit jacket, a sports jacket, and a simple blazer. To entice women to enter the corporate world, we’d like to discuss some of the relevant differences between the different types of jackets below. This will also help you chose the right piece to complement your Ethiopian women’s dresses elegantly.
SUIT JACKET:
A suit jacket is incomplete without its corresponding match of loafers, skirt or trousers. A woman’s suit jacket is usually smaller, that is, till the waist, and single-breasted. It consists of a single flap that overlaps with the fabric when buttoned up. A suit jacket usually has an impeccable fit and is preferably worn to formal occasions such as weddings, funerals, court or meetings. It can also be used with your formal Ethiopian women dresses to give them an edge.
People might own some neutral tones or dark undertones to start with, which is why blacks, navy-blues, and browns are fairly common. Women are, however, known to sport blazers and sport jackets more commonly than suit jackets.
BLAZER:
Informal, casual and chic – the blazer is a versatile addition to outerwear for women. The length of the blazer might vary. It is usually loose and might fall just beneath the waist to hug the hips. Unlike a suit jacket, the blazer doesn’t have matching counterparts and has made its name in the fashion industry as one of the most indispensable and contrasting pieces of women’s attire. You can pair them with jeans, with your Ethiopian women dresses or with several other dresses.
Monochrome blazers, plaid, checked or striped, and similar dark tones are gaining popularity amongst people nowadays. Who knew that the Englishmen would also be infamous for the discovery of blazers?
SPORTS’ JACKET:
Known to have arrived much before the blazer, the sports jacket had been supposed to create a name as an informal yet chic alternative to the suit jacket for athletes and sportswomen. Earlier, only athletic endorsers, and/or several game players would be seen adorning sports jackets due to its loose fit, sturdy appearance and tweed fabric. However, when paired correctly with the right attire it can add that complementing edge to the outfit and help raise the style of many of your outfits.
